The Get Wet Shop was founded in 1976 by JoAnn and Rene "Poochie" Delhomme and their eight children.  

In the beginning it was known as Delhomme Swim Supply,  the supplier of Lycra Racing Swim Suits for local and area competitive swim teams.  Most of the Delhomme's participated  on several local swim teams.

The  Delhomme Swim School was established in 1960 and has taught many Lafayette residents how to swim.  JoAnn, her children, and grandchildren continue teaching today.  

In 1976, JoAnn and Poochie purchased the property at 207 Jefferson Street and opened their new storefront shop next to the Times of Acadiana Building.

A few years later, they purchased property near  Acadiana Lanes Bowling Alley on Ambassador Caffery Parkway where Get Wet is currently located.  

Janice Delhomme Camel, our store manager, is a graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana  with  a degree in Marketing, and has been with the company since 1990.

Our assistant manager, Debbie Jo Delhomme Greene, is a graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana, having received her degree in Business Administration.  Debbie has been with the company since 1996.

Our head buyer, Latrell Foreman Jarrell, has been with the company since 1992.

We are a member of the Louisiana Retailers Association and the Southwest Swimwear Retailers Association.
